PowerSchool explained the breach primarily involved directory information including, but not limited to, data elements such as names, contacts, addresses, etc. In some cases, PowerSchool also determined personally identifiable data, like social security number and medical information, were impacted. In response, PowerSchool involved third-party cybersecurity experts and has reasonably confirmed no personally identifiable information was duplicated, shared, or made public. Affected students, families, and staff members are receiving direct communication. PowerSchool will provide additional information and resources to assist with data monitoring.
Protecting students, families, and staff members is a priority. PowerSchool is working urgently to complete its investigation and follow-up with our district and others across the country.
