Notification Regarding Students with Disabilities and Graduation:
Milton-Union strives to have 100% of students with disabilities demonstrate career readiness, graduate with their class cohort, and receive a regular diploma. To ensure students with disabilities graduate with a regular diploma, Milton-Union utilizes the state's rubric to identify when administration of the alternative assessment is appropriate. To ensure success after high school and when alternative assessment is not possible, students with disabilities will either demonstrate competency or follow the alternative pathway to graduate with a regular diploma.
Milton-Union utilizes the State of Ohio’s Early Warning Monitoring System (EWS) to prevent students with disabilities from withdrawing prior to receiving a regular high school diploma. The system identifies middle and high school students along several variables that often impede graduation like attendance, behaviors, and course credits. The Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) team regularly meets and reviews any students identified with risk through the EWS. The MTSS team aligns interventions at the middle and high schools to decrease risk factors and enable student success.
